Bolton Refuge House, Inc is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit that provides no cost services for individuals affected by domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. They are the only emergency shelter agency in Eau Claire, WI with support staff available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

A Partnership for Hope
At Giving Mac, we believe technology can do more than connect people. It can create comfort, reduce stress, inspire hope, and help transform environments into places where people feel safe.
That belief is what inspired our newest initiative in partnership with Bolton Refuge House.

The Current Reality
For many individuals and families escaping domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or intimate partner violence, Bolton Refuge House represents the first safe place they have had in a very long time.
But while the people at Bolton provide extraordinary care and support, one of the shelter’s primary common areas has remained largely unchanged for years.
Need for Revitalization
Today, the room is dark, outdated, and institutional. Harsh lighting, aging furniture, hospital-style seating, and an outdated television and VCR create an environment that feels cold rather than comforting. For adults and children experiencing trauma, spaces like this can unintentionally add stress during an already overwhelming time.
We want to change that!

We are creating a peaceful, restorative space designed to support emotional well-being and healing. At the center of this transformation will be an atmosphere System that combines stunning visuals, synchronized lighting, and immersive sound to create a truly calming experience.

This project is designed around that principle.

More Than a TV Upgrade
An atmosphere System transforms an ordinary room into an immersive wellness environment. The revitalized space will be a multi-purpose area where residents can relax, watch comforting content, participate in activities, or simply take a moment to breathe.
If funding allows, additional improvements may include:

We installed immersive wellness systems to create calming environments that support veteran well-being.
Community Haven House
We partnered to help create a more welcoming space for individuals experiencing homelessness in Eau Claire.
By combining technology, environmental design, and community support, we have an opportunity to create a meaningful impact for hundreds of individuals and families who rely on Bolton Refuge House each year.
Unlike many technology-focused projects, the success of this initiative will not be measured in specifications or hardware.
It will be measured in moments:
