Marilyn Thoms Memorial Fund for Veteran Wellness
Empowering Veterans with Tranquil Spaces
Honoring a legacy of compassion, and continuing a mission of healing.

The Marilyn Thoms Memorial Fund for Veteran Wellness was created to honor the life and legacy of Marilyn Thoms, a beloved wife, friend, and community member whose deep empathy and support for veterans continue to inspire healing efforts today.
Marilyn was the cherished wife of Sgt. Erv Thoms, a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam from 1966–1967. Together, Marilyn and Erv shared a quiet devotion to those who have served our country—recognizing not only the sacrifices of veterans, but also the strength and support of military families.
After Marilyn’s passing in early 2024, Erv was moved to carry forward their shared values through a cause close to both of their hearts: creating calming, restorative spaces in veteran facilities to support mental health and well-being. This mission found its spark in Erv’s discovery of immersive Atmosphere Nature Films at MacMan—a local business using technology to promote relaxation and mindfulness. Deeply touched by its impact, Erv saw an opportunity to bring this “tranquil technology” to veterans who may be struggling with PTSD, anxiety, or other challenges.
Rooted in the scientifically supported concept of biophilia—our innate connection to nature—the Atmosphere experience uses high-resolution displays and ambient audio to create peaceful environments. These systems help reduce stress, promote focus, and offer moments of calm to those who need it most.
Through this memorial fund, Giving Mac will work to install Atmosphere systems in veteran support facilities across the region and beyond. Donations help bring this vision to life, providing veterans with access to restorative spaces that encourage peace, reflection, and healing.
Atmosphere film are created for health and wellness.
